Shands for Kids Stories

GAINESVILLE, Fla.— The radio teams at 98.5 KTK and News/Talk 97.3 The Sky went on air to help build awareness and raise funds for the kids at Shands Children’s Hospital at the University of Florida through Children’s Miracle Network. The 9th Annual Shands for Kids Radiothon, sponsored by McCall’s Service, was a 39-hour broadcast from Wednesday,
Aug. 26, to Friday, Aug. 28. During this 3-day event, more than
$209,000 was pledged in support from listeners across the state and beyond.

98.5 KTK and News/Talk 97.3 The Sky interviewed more than 30 children, and their families, who are battling for a healthy life. Along with these inspirational patient interviews, the on-air team talked with 26 pediatric physicians from the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida. All interviews portrayed the exceptional medical care received and how the funding from Children’s Miracle Network enhances the programs and services at Shands Children’s Hospital.
